Default Title gain messages

Very simple suggestion - make new title acquisition show in chat similar to gaining levels and skillpoints. Practically no one cares about skillpoints, whereas titles (well, okay, some of them) actually represent some degree of effort. Just "So And So is now known to be a Deadly Hero," "So And So is now known to be an Incorrigible Alehound," or something of the like.

I suggest this for two reasons. First, I certainly would like to know when I've reached the title I'm currently working on without having to hit H and scroll through everything to find it. Secondly, it provides a very passive form of bragging (similar to showing titles) which a) works outside of an outpost, and b) allows you to congratulate your friends (even the quiet ones).

Sure, it's a bit more spam, but only really in the newbie zones of Elona (from the Sunspear title), and level up spam in towns is already present. It also shouldn't be too difficult to include an option to turn off "achievement messages" (this suggestion and level up/skillpoint spam).

(And sorry if this was suggested before - I looked through the index, but didn't see it.)

Increasing a title is not something that always happen.

I would also add an animation, much like leveling up or getting exp, but different.

Hmmmm..Would only work on some cases i believe...i.e. when i reached my mapping titles i was .....err...in a map

When I got my protector titles i was again...in a map in a mission

IT would likely only work on half the titles.

I would prefer if it was something akin to the /fame emote thing with all the deers and whatnot. At least you could show yours off too, and in terms of skill and perseverance its probably the same amount as someones skill in PvP?

/not signed ...at this time....Id say re-evaluate the suggestion maybe.

And..? I do most of my mapping with a good friend of mine. When you level up in a map, you get a little message. What's wrong with the same for titles?

You only do missions alone? How anti-social and boring

I don't understand why it wouldn't work on the other half...

But what's the point of those emotes except active bragging, which is lame and annoying? I know we haven't gotten past the days of "omg i so ranked him," but one can always hope

Generally, if I'm working on a title and want to see a change, I put on the title and watch.

If I want people to know, I PM them (friends only) or sing about it in local.

We already get announcements of level-ups and skill points, plus the constant updates of who has favor of the gods and so forth.

I'm not gonna /notsign this, but I have to say, I don't really see the point.

I could be wrong, but if your "working on a title" do you not watch your progress as you go anyway?

How many titles are you working on at one time?

When you talk about notifications in the local chat about achieving a title, does that mean you want everyone in that outpost to see it?

Maybe have a pop up window that you can see, but I dont see why an entire outpost needs to see you attain a full title. It doesnt happen that frequently that people would notice.

But /notsigned because I have to assume you keep a watch of your titles as you do them? Thats what the hero window is for.

It's not necesary to make the annuncemnts for other players.

I think the idea of the OP is adding green chat lines for you, much like those you see when you receive quest rewards or hero skill points. Other players do not see them.

Agreed. I don't need more spam around about people I don't care about.

Perhaps in reply you could adjust it to say something like......ok well how about as soon as you land in a town or outpost it comes up with your title gain...........NOOO musnt do that, musnt think outside of the box eh?

Go google the "Two finger salute" , it means something insulting in the UK and im doing it to this right now

What a crappy suggestions. I like to keep my title (and other's titles) achievements to myself (or themselves). If you want to show it off, you can already do it by checking the box to display it in town. Don't need to rub it in people's faces that you just got rank 5 wisdom while opening that chest that gave you rank 6 chest hunter. Sure it might be cool, but also a bit cocky to some.

Yeah, sorry, my post was a bit out of line. It just always irked me that skillpoints were broadcast and, say, earning a Gladiator rank wasn't. I mean seriously, who cares about skillpoints of all things?

I don't care about others getting the information.
But I do know that I found usafull getting the 'you have earned 2 hero points' message, and I'd like it too for other titles.

Even if only you can see the line, it would be still usefull, since you won't have to check the hero panel all the time.

Most titles are not that impressive.
The only thing I would consider in regards to this would be to add a rank emote for the champion title, and maybe the glad title.
Maybe an emote for the Kurzick/Luxon titles, after rank6 (steward). Like the animation from the Saint Viktor/Archemorus Urn/Spear. Could be fun.

Seeker of Wisdom? Cartographer? Meh. Not impressive.

Sunspear Commander. lololololololol
